Sometimes You're Not Really Finished

I thought I was finished with the Work in Progress (WIP) piece I posted a few weeks ago until I had an inspiration.

I was at work the other night -- I work part time at a local library -- when I saw the back cover illustration on a children's book of a bridge in twilight. Then I realized what I needed to do with the WIP painting to really make it dramatic. The change would also take care of a few elements I was not happy with and allow me to emphasize some important details. Unfortunately, at the same time, I would loose a few elements I was proud of such as the water spray behind the carrier.

I have been working on that piece off and on for about 2 years. It has been a fun side piece and it has also let me stretch my creative legs.

I can be a bit of a perfectionist at times and sometimes have a hard time letting a painting go, especially when it is a personal piece. I had finally felt uneasily finished but this was such a dramatic change from the original I felt that it was worth the time. Literally the difference between day and night!

I am happy with the progress of the piece and expect to be finally done with it soon.
