Spectrum 16

Well, the list of artists accepted for Spectrum was released. Yours truly was not on it again this year. It is a bummer but I'll keep trying. I only sent one piece this year and it was one I was very proud of.

Earthlight Tranquility.

I was excited to do a piece based on what the Apollo lander might look like on the moon after the mission was finished. Aldrin and Armstrong said that the Flag fell during their launch and after years of sitting on the surface it would have become faded and brittle. It took a considerable amount of research. At first I thought a day lit scene would be nice but I decided an earth lit scene would be more dramatic.

I'm disappointed, of course but there will be other tries. I'll just keep working.

Memory Lane

I find it a little amazing that 10 years have passed since I won the Illustrators of the Future award. So much has changed in my life since then but not my love of science fiction. I had a very good time at the event and met some amazing and talented artists and writers. I'll always remember staying at the "castle" and visiting the set of Deep Space 9. Also, walking down Hollywood Boulevard and seeing the life that takes place at all hours.
