Mech Wreck

Here is another example of my foray into Adobe Illustrator illustrations. I am having a ball with it. This piece is still identified by its working title but the scene is just as I wanted it to be. The remains of a long ago war are slowly being reclaimed by nature.

Mech Ruins, 2010

To improve my confidence with the program I have been reworking pieces I created with more traditional techniques and giving them the "illustrator" treatment. In truth, the art is not about how it is created. Instead it is about getting what's in my head out for everyone to see.

I have been able to tap a different kind of creativity where I can make changes as necessary but not affect what I have already made. It is true of most digital art but in this case the program seems to help my mind flow better.

I'm in the middle of streamlining the process as I find myself backtracking fairly often. What has been helpful has been following the classic methods of picture making. Sketches, comps, and final art.

With this foundation I am expecting great things as I move forward.
