Work In Progress: Landing Platform Part 4

To help remember where I'm headed I create an overlay layer with a sunset-like orange tint.
For me, this helps to remind myself where I want the image to go. I turn the layer on and off to get a feel for what areas are in need of attention.

I'm still working in grayscale on the under drawing to get the details just the way I want them. but now I can see where I need emphasis and I can begin to develop them to a nice finish.

At this point I realized the rock wall was not working for me so I decided to experiment with a brush I don't normally use. I took the palette knife and began creating long strokes. The tool works much like a real palette knife and I soon found that I could suggest just the right texture.

I was still hoping to find a good way to work in the original lineart but it doesn't seem to be working for me. It's just too cartoony for my tastes.
